Release Date: 21 April 2022
Content Notes
Vektal Meet Cute
Psychically-induced orgasms
Hunted in the woods
Eldritch Horror

Peak by Stella Williams goes a little outside my usual list simply because it isn’t a romance. However, if something like an erotic thriller movie that takes place in the woods and that you can devour over your lunch break sounds appealing? I got a story for you.
As someone who typically reviews erotic romance, I think this is a decent accompaniment to your spooky reads list. I admit this story made me curious about Williams’ shifter romance so I might be exploring that pen name some more! I loved the focus on the female climax in this story. It paired perfectly with the bits of creepiness. I almost think Williams could have gone even scarier and it would have still been enjoyable. Maybe more so!
Love, Laugh, Lich by Kate Prior
Release Date: 22 October 2021
Content Notes
TRIPLE PEENS
Workplace Romance
Post-apocalyptic authoritarian rule
Dating the Boss
Morally Gray MMC
Ritual Sex
Kate Prior’s approach to the office romance trope in Love, Laugh, Lich does good things to my reader's soul as it is trapped in an office worker's body. Prior writes with the ease and biting humor of a self-aware fellow cubicle slave.
I started this series out of order, having read an ARC of this Brooks’s sequel, The Orc from the Office. I loved it and obviously, I needed to check out this prequel for myself. This Lich interpretation is imaginative. The world the story is set in is creative as well. The dialogue and action are sprinkled with dark humor that sets regular corporate life as compatible with a paranormal, post-apocalyptic authoritarian rule. Prior doesn’t go deeper than her characters care for the details, which I felt worked for the story.
It is a rare balance that makes this book and series something I would recommend to a range of friends. I really hope Prior keeps this series up. She’s hit up a niche of monster romance that seems really fun and relatable.
