L. V. Lane is one of those writers I will always have in my TBR, and Gentling the Beast is an example of why. A caring giant who will do anything for their love, a likable but relatable woman in a bind, and throw in some serious spice with an ever-present danger they both have to escape...this is Lane creating my idea of a comfort read.
Another reason to like this book and Lane’s portfolio is that one doesn’t need to be familiar with her greater built world or how omegaverse dynamics work to appreciate this book. It is sweet, with a bit of danger and adventure to whisk you away. I love that for my reading life.

Mars Needs Women!
If the reasons you loved Ice Planet Barbarians included its edge of danger, cinnamon rolls who can kill, and harsh landscape then you should try out Richter Scale by Dalia Davies. It has all of this plus a “Mars Needs Women”-like premise and a couple of mysteries baked in. When Davies isn’t making you hot, they are making you anxious and you will enjoy both.
Absolutely this is a spicy story. There’s even sex club dates! Loved that but what made the story to be sustainably engaging (and occasionally anxiety-inducing) were Laurel’s secrets and Richter’s past. Laurel’s sneakiness was the number one reason I kept need to stop for reading breaks and calm down! Seriously though, Davies should keep that up because I need more of this series. She’s opened up a couple of mysteries to center this series around. If there’s fiction that calls like catnip to me more than Romance, it is Mystery.

Do you love a spicy book? What about fluffy romance? But wait, you might say. What if you want both at once? Say no more, friend, because Lyonne Riley has your back with My Minotaur Husband. This book is an excellent bit of fluffy spice for those who crave the size difference trope and fun fluids but need a lot of heart to make the story hit just right.
This book is written in a standalone fashion and a separate universe from her other books at the time of this writing. Throw in its tightly written 150 pages, and this is a solid, fun read for any monster lover’s TBR.
