As much as SJ Sanders can deliver Hallmark Sweet stuff in the Monsterly Yours series, she can she’ll out suspenseful adventure with The Blooded Labyrinth. Maybe I am a wuss, but I am amazed reviews don’t talk a lot about how scary this story can get. I loved that. I got thrills from the scary and spicy scenes both. It was a combo I now want more of.
This book also made me certain that I must have an author crush on SJ Sanders. I don’t think she is my only author crush, but she is on that list of pen names I will always find time for. I want to build a story like she does. I want to create worlds with texture but not a bunch of paragraphs.
Finding Her Minotaur by Eva Priest
Release Date: November 3, 2022
Content Notes
Fated Mates
Size Difference
Grumpy/Sunshine
Abduction
Person Trafficking
Attempted Rape
I first read Finding Her Minotaur by Eva Priest in the Monsters in Love anthology themed around Labyrinths. I love Priest’s sci-fi reinterpretation of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth. If like me and you are completely new to the Obsidian Rift Universe this feels like a good peak inside. I’d really like to see more.
I do admit that I felt The Falling in Love phase (following the Romancing the Beat by Gwen Hayes template), played out fast. The Fated Mates trope can speed that process up, but I found myself wanting more emotional evolution between the FMC and MMC. I hope and suspect Priest has more of that up her sleeve in the future.
